Infatuation loses inflation. You know when you first meet someone and it’s like, “Ooh, he’s so cute. She’s the bomb.” You go out, you have your first kiss, and it feels so good. But after time, it dwindles. You’re not as excited to see him anymore. And another home is broken.
Newlyweds start out with everything new—new home, new refrigerator, new children, babies being born. But even that can lose inflation if you allow it. Love can fade if you don’t put effort into it. It takes effort to stay in love in this world because there are so many forces coming against love. God is love, and this world is adversarial to God.
Children crying. Daddy’s not home anymore. Mothers dying because the love of their life has left them. Fathers lying, trying to cover everything up. And Jesus sighing. They didn’t stay in love. They didn’t keep praying. They didn’t keep reading the Word of God. They stopped drawing near to God, and the enemy came in with his devices and distractions.
But here’s the solution. You have to stay in love. You have to keep reading the Word. You have to keep following Jesus. You have to continue to do the things you did at first and even increase them. Put God at the helm. He will lead you to victory in every circumstance.
