Guard Your Heart: The Issues of Life Flow From It

Spread the love

Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. In the King James Version it says, “For out of it are the issues of life.” That’s why this episode is called Issues of Life. All the issues of life come from your heart, and your heart is very important to keep guarded, especially in romantic relationships.

When you marry someone, the two become one flesh. You can’t get any closer than that. So guarding your heart matters. It’s wise not to open your heart to just anyone. Everyone cannot be trusted and everyone is not for you. But there is a difference when you meet someone God has designed for you.

When I met him in college, something was different. There was a natural openness. It wasn’t forced. It wasn’t something we had to work at. It was just there. A natural, God-given love. When you feel like you can drop your guard in a healthy way, when you feel like you can be totally open and it feels like a breath of fresh air, pay attention. That’s a sign.

What I didn’t understand then was what real love felt like. I wasn’t taught how to recognize it. Because we didn’t understand it, we mishandled it. The ending was painful, and that unresolved pain followed me quietly for years. Sometimes you don’t realize a past relationship is hindering you until God reveals it.

If there is unresolved tension from a past relationship that didn’t end correctly, you may need to confront it. You may need to have the courage to clear it so you can move forward. Guard your heart, but when God reveals something unfinished, resolve it so the issues of life can flow in the right direction.

P.S. There’s deeper prayer, music, and revelation in the full episode. Listen to Relationship Rock:Perfect Body Part 2 – Issues of Life to hear the complete message.
