Sometimes in love, we fall.
And when I think about that, I think about Adam and Eve.
When Eve was deceived by the serpent, Adam was not deceived.
He knew it was wrong.
He knew eating from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil was sin.
But he chose Eve anyway.
He chose her over God.
And it’s easy to condemn Adam — but the story is deeper than that.
He loved her.
He didn’t want her to suffer alone.
There was still purity in him at that time.
The love God gave him for Eve was real — and in that moment, he used that love to justify disobedience.
That’s complex.
It’s beautiful.
It’s tragic.
It’s human.
After they fell, everything changed.
“Lord, the woman You gave me…”
Now blame entered.
Shame entered.
Fear entered.
And we are still living in that fallen pattern.
Sometimes we choose relationships over obedience.
Sometimes we idolize love.
We idolize partnership.
We idolize not being alone.
We may stay in something God never ordained.
And because we are fallen, we make mistakes in love.
I did.
I’m raising my hand.
But here’s the good news:
There is redemption.
God is love.
And love redeems.
If you say, “Lord, I messed that up,” He understands.
His yoke is easy.
His burden is light.
Following Jesus may create friction in relationships — especially if they aren’t rooted in Him — but He gives grace for the friction.
That’s the beauty of it.
We fall.
We learn.
We return.
We are redeemed.
Love God.
Love yourself.
Love people.
That’s the order.
May the Lord bless you and keep you.
May the Lord make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you.
May the Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace.
Shalom.
God bless, Shirah Chante, your relationship coach and artist
