Draw Near to God: Don’t Be Afraid to Come Close

Spread the love

Don’t fear. Don’t be afraid to get close to God. Yes, we want to fear the Lord. We want to have a healthy respect for God. When people say “fear the Lord,” it means knowing that God is going to do exactly what He says He’s going to do. That should give you a holy reverence deep down in your soul. It makes you think twice before doing something wrong. But we do not want to fear getting close to Him. When we make a mistake, or struggle with low self‑esteem, Father God wants you. He will not reject you. Anyone who wants to get close to Him, He will allow that. If you come with a repentant heart, a pure heart, just wanting to know Him, He will receive you.

In the Gospel of Matthew it says, “The pure in heart will see God.” You see Him by getting to know Him through His Word. One day you will see Him in heaven if you continue in your salvation. James 4:8 says, “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners. Purify your hearts, you double‑minded.” We want one mind and that is the mind of Christ.
