I just love Psalm 1 because it tells us exactly how to prosper. It doesn’t leave us guessing. It gives us three things not to do and three things to do.
First, blessed is the one who does not walk in the counsel of the ungodly. That means be careful who is advising you. If you have ungodly friends, you may need to separate yourself a little. I know that can be hard especially if you’ve known them a long time. Maybe you’re even dating someone ungodly. That’s tough. But you can be wise. You can pray. Prayer is powerful. Jesus said whatever we ask in His name, He will do it. Pray for them. But protect your walk.
Second, don’t stand in the path of sinners. Don’t hang around trying to figure out what they’re doing. You don’t need the details of evil. Just pray and move on. Stay focused on your path. Stay focused on being planted.
Third, don’t sit in the seat of the scornful. Don’t mock what is holy. Don’t come against people just because they believe differently. Find your people. Let others find theirs. There’s no need for disdain.
Now here’s how you are blessed: Delight in the law of the Lord and meditate on it day and night. Day and night means all the time. Not loving God in the morning and then doing something ungodly at night. Day and night means consistency. It means this is your life.
When you live this way, you are like a tree planted by the rivers of water. You bring forth fruit in your season. You don’t fail to produce. Your leaf does not wither. Whatever you do shall prosper.
That’s the promise.
You’re planted.
Bear fruit.
It’s your season.
You will prosper.
God bless, Shirah Chante, your relationship coach
P.S. I closed this episode with prayer and sang the bridge of Righteous Forsaken again as an encouragement. Don’t miss it, go listen to the full show and let it bless you.
