Now I know that the Lord is greater than all Gods because in this affair, they dealt arrogantly with the people. And Jethro Moses’ father-in-law brought a burnt offering and sacrifices to God. Aaron came with all the elders of Israel to eat bread with Moses’ father-in-law before God. What did Jethro say? Now I know that the Lord is greater than all Gods. Now I, oh, now I know. Now I know. Maybe I was a little skeptical before. Maybe I had a little doubt before, but now I know.
And so Jethro plays a major part of Moses’ operations in the camp as he gives Moses some very valuable advice. So let’s listen to this advice that Jethro Moses’ father-in-law. Gives him… Moses’ father-in-law said to him, what are you doing? What you are doing is not good. You and the people with you will certainly wear yourselves out for the thing. It’s too heavy for you. You are not able to do it alone.
Now obey my voice. I will give you advice and God be with you. Look for able men from all the people, men who fear God, who are trustworthy and hate a bribe, and place such men over the people. So it will be easier for you. And they will bear the burden with you.
Wise counsel is needed in life. That’s why there’s counselors, coaches, therapists, people who can guide you, who can give you wise counsel according to God’s word. Godly counsel is the best counsel. It overshadows, overrides over everything. It’s the Most High.
