True Worship: It’s Not About Us, And That’s The Beautiful Part

Spread the love

My most recent midnight prayer is called True Worship, based on John chapter 4, the encounter of Jesus with the woman of Samaria at the well, and also Isaiah chapter 11, where we talk about the Spirit of God—the Spirit of understanding and wisdom, the Spirit of counsel and might, and the Spirit of the fear of the Lord.

What I’m talking about is true worship and how those who worship God must worship Him in spirit and in truth, because God is Spirit. It’s not about us. It’s not about how we look. It’s not about how good we sound. Yes, it’s good to play and be good and be your best, and we want to do those things. We want to be great and wonderful. But God knows us. He knows our heart, and that’s not necessarily what’s going to make Him love us anymore. The song will be prettier, yes, but that’s not necessarily going to get anyone to worship God.

That’s really the gist of this midnight prayer, and I hope that it draws people to a deeper worship of the Lord God through His Son, Jesus Christ.
